GSKA may 10th results

We only had one student travel to this tournament.  Skyler Boone took two second places.  In S-18 12/13 Intermediate Boy Point Sparring.  With the second place finish Sklyer moves into first with 73 points just five points ahead of second place.  In F-74 11/13 Inter/Adv Japanese/Okinawan Forms with his second place finish he moved into the first in points with 88.  Sklyer is also first in points in CS-40 10/13 Beg/Inter Boy continuous Sparring with 111.

Irish Cup!

17^th Irish Cup

Sensei Rodney C. Peoples just returned from the 17^th Irish Cup in Dublin Ireland.  He indicated it was an amazing trip that started in Athens, Greece.  A former team member under Don Madden, Katherine Loukopoulos lives in Greece and showed the team many sites in Greece including the ruins in Deiphi, some of the islands, and in Athens the Agoura and the Acropolis.  There was an amazing view of the Acropolis from the rooftop of the hotel where the team stayed.

There were a total of 32 people traveling with the AKJU Team America.  There were 17 competitors with the team and took home 52 medals; 25 gold, 18 silver, and 15 bronze including the Irish Cup in Ju Jitsu.  The remaining travelers were family members and friends of the team competitors.  All indicated they had a wonderful time.

Sensei Peoples won a gold metal in sparring, open hand forms, and weapons forms.  He also won a bronze medal for team fighting.

The American woman’s team fighting won silver medal only losing to one of the Irish teams by 1 point.  The American men’s team fighting took the bronze in their division.

Being a part of the AKJU team America is open to many styles of matial arts including Karate, Ju Jistu, and Kung Fu.  If you are interested in joining the AKJU and travel with the team to the 18^th Irish Cup nest year please contact the Ko Sutemi West at (209)-296-4200 or email realrcp@aol.com to be informed of upcoming qualifying events.

Karate classes:

            Kids (ages 5-10) Monday – Friday 4:00pm – 5:00pm

            Adult (10 and up) Monday – Friday 6:00pm – 7:30pm

GSKA Tournament



We had three of our athletes compete in the GSKA tournament this past weekend. 

Skyler Boone complete in 10-13 Boys Continuous Sparring, he finished second.    With his second place he is currently in second place in the points.

Serene Pierson competed in three divisions:  18 & UP Brown & Below Women’s Sparring (Kumite), Serene placed first and she is currently second in points.  In Padded Weapons 18 & UP Intermediate she placed first and is currently first in points.  In Forms (Kata) Brown & Below 18 & UP, Serene place first and is currently first in points.

 

Rodney Peoples competed in two divisions:  50 & UP Black Belt Sparring All Wts.  He placed first and is first in points.  Rodney also competed in 50 & Up Black Belt Trad Forms All Styles were he finished first and also is in first place in the points.
